Happy New Year! Happy 2021! Let me start this blog by recognizing the amazing gifts 2020 bestowed upon me. I had the privilege of getting to know people I would not have had a chance to know better. I have been able to see my aging parents easily as they now live in the same city as me. I have a roof over my head, a job that helps pay the bills and I learned about his fantastic experience through a dear friend of mine. Would I have wanted 2020 to be different? Perhaps. But I also want to acknowledge the fantastic experiences I gained.
Now onto our assignments for the last couple of weeks. We were to watch a couple of movies and write about them. Not just any movies, we got to pick from about 8. The ones I chose to watch were “Rudy” and “Door to Door”. Within the first 5-10 minutes of “Rudy”, It was clear to me that this was the epitome of the hero’s journey. He was always told he was less than he was, he had a learning disability, yet he had a big dream that he was passionate about. Bill, the focus character in “Door to door”, was looked down upon because of his physical disability, yet he too, was passionate about doing the job in spite of what people told him he could not do.
Both characters (both based on true stories and heroes) showed us their passion, focus and determination to follow through on their dreams. I couldn’t help but get caught up in cheering for them to reach their goals. I also felt like they were people I would like to know just to be part of their world. To be able to say “I was part of that life” would be an honor.
When I reflect back on what I have learned through the Master Keys so far, it is clear that a clear mental picture is necessary. Continued focus in the conscious mind so that subby can take over the subconscious mind will keep all parts of me looking to find my definite purpose. I can see all 7 of Houser’s laws of the mind being applied by our heroes who were just regular people like I am. The Master Keys are being reinforced by real life people who ended up doing big things.
As I continue to work my way through the maze of new terms, Haanel, Og and whatever Mark throws at us next, I will remember what I saw in those movies. I will keep my focus, I will keep up with my readings. “I can be what I will to be”. “I am a lion and I refuse to talk, to walk, to sleep with the sheep”. Bring on 2021 with gusto!
Super job Nicole! I love the way you write!
“I couldn’t help but get caught up in cheering for them to reach their goals.”–that’s how I feel too after reading MKE posts! I appreciate you sharing your gratitude and persistence each week! Cheering you on! Happy 2021! 🙂
Nicole, good for you for saying, “Bring on 2021 with Gusto!!” From your blog rover friend John.
