Mind over matter, power poses, and live for today
This week is a very busy week. So much is going on with our Master Key Experience that I am having a hard time organizing my thoughts and getting started on my blog today. So I will start with Og and living today as best I can. I am grateful to be alive despite the -41 degree temperatures we are enduring this week (Celsius or Fahrenheit are the same at this temperature). “Should I concern myself over events I may never witness”. NO. I should enjoy every part of today, whether it be cuddling my children, kissing my SO or enjoying the beauty of nature. So many have not had the privilege of being here today and I do them a disservice by not living the best I can be in this moment. So, I will begin to summon my courage.

Now, my power pose starts. We saw a wonderful Ted Talk by Amy Cuddy where she spoke about body language and how it affects our minds. Stand like Wonder Woman with your hands on your hips and feet shoulder width apart for 2 minutes. I dare you to do this and not feel stronger and more in control. At a Zoom meeting, lean over and put your hands on the table wider than shoulder width and have a look of power in your eyes for 2 minutes. I am willing to guess you will feel the confidence rise in you. I know this table leaning not only gave me confidence, but I felt the courage to make sure my views were heard in our board meeting where I so often feel like an underdog. Not only were my views heard, we ended up voting them in to our new structure!
And now to Haanel. Mind over matter. Haanel reminds us that things we usually see as opposites, are not really opposites but are simply extreme contrasts of the whole. For example, North Pole and South Pole, inside and outside, and knowledge and ignorance where ignorance is simply the lack of knowledge. Now we come to mind and matter. “Mind is the real and the eternal. Matter is forever changing” Haanel points out how matter is changing by getting us to think on the way our landscape changes over the years and centuries… lakes were where mountains now stand and how we can see the evidence of glaciers that moved across great plains. He then goes to explaining how the mind is the only principle. Because matter is continuously changing and mind is static, we see that matter is a condition of mind, part of the whole. By thinking, we are acting on the universal mind and this is where we put things in motion! By having positive, powerful and constructive thoughts, we see our environment as a reflection from this inside with good health, and business. Just as simply, weak, destructive and negative thoughts create an inharmonious and conflicted world around us full of lack and limitations. I really am where I am in my world because of my thoughts and actions up till now. I really do have the power to change my thoughts and make my world what I want it to be! I can be what I will to be!
Nicole, good for you for realizing you can be what you will to be. From your blog rover friend John
Love that Power Pose. Your thoughts fueled by that emotional burning desire will take you anywhere you want to do. We really do have the power to create on a conscious basis and “know” that we have the ability to produce results. All the Best.
Thank you.
Congrats on having the views you shared in your board meeting voted into your new structure! I really appreciated your reminder of our privilege to be alive today, too. 🙂
